November 26, 2025Portugal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Frederico Silva, met with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah this week to review the current state of Portugal–Sindh relations and explore new avenues for cooperation.
The meeting highlighted a shared desire to turn longstanding goodwill into meaningful collaboration across multiple sectors. Both sides emphasized common priorities in cultural and sports exchange, renewable energy, higher education, digital innovation, and expanded mobility pathways for Pakistani students and professionals interested in opportunities in Portugal.
Officials noted that Portugal’s growing academic and technology ecosystem, combined with Sindh’s young talent base and vibrant creative community, offers strong potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.
A major part of the discussion focused on emerging sectors that could deliver long-term, sustainable impact. Clean energy and water management were identified as key areas for cooperation, given Sindh’s climate-related challenges and Portugal’s expertise in green technologies and environmental solutions.

The leadership also examined opportunities in technology transfer, skills development, and joint research—especially in fields connected to digital transformation and the creative economy.
Ambassador Silva reaffirmed Portugal’s commitment to deepening engagement with Pakistan at both provincial and national levels. He noted that Lisbon sees Sindh as an important partner for advancing people-focused initiatives that support innovation, education, and cultural understanding.
“Portugal remains committed to supporting initiatives that benefit both our societies,” he said, stressing that bilateral cooperation must translate into real improvements in quality of life and economic opportunity.
Chief Minister Shah welcomed Portugal’s interest in strengthening ties with Sindh and expressed his government’s readiness to support partnerships that promote sustainable growth, academic collaboration, and cultural links. He added that Sindh’s growing focus on digital skills, renewable energy, and creative entrepreneurship aligns closely with Portugal’s strengths.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about the future of Portugal–Sindh cooperation and agreeing to pursue more structured frameworks for engagement.
